OCEAN VIEW PTA SOCK HOP--FRIDAY, MARCH 24TH (7:00 PM – 8:30 PM): Don't know what a Sock Hop is? Sock Hops are informal high school dances that were popular in the 1950's, where kids would take off their shoes and dance in their socks so as not to mark up the gymnasium floors. Here at Ocean View we put our own twist on this all-American tradition and have a Crazy Sock Contest and a Cake Walk in the Multi-Purpose Room. To enter the Crazy Sock Contest children must be wearing creatively decorated socks. During the Cake Walk kids walk/dance around, stepping on numbered squares. When the music stops, everyone stops, a number is called out and the person standing on that number wins a dessert! We need volunteers to make this fun and popular event a success, as well as donations day-of of cakes/baked goods for the Cake Walk.
