Principal's Message

Dear Ocean View families;

The end of the 2014-2015 year has come and with it many memories and gratitude to you. Celebrate Community - Honor Diversity, this is our passion and has been our mission. Thank you for the opportunity to educate your children.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank three of our teachers who retired this year. Kim Haltiner, Gail Mandela and Sally Davis, you have been an inspiration to many students and families, we are grateful to have called you our colleague, mentor and friend.  Good luck with your next phase in life!



School opens Tuesday, August 25th with all students beginning at 8:30 AM. Kindergarten ending at 1pm and 1st - 3rd ending at 2pm through August 28th. The K-3 Early Bird/Late Bird Schedule will begin Monday, August 31st.  The 4-5 schedule will start the school year on a regular schedule 8:30AM - 3:05PM. 


We will no longer post Early Bird/Late Bird and classroom assignments. This information will be available to individual families through their Aeries Parent Portal. Please read the information that was sent home with your child's report card or visit the Albany Unified School District Website and scroll down Quick links to parent portal for help. EB/LB assignments will be available after June 19th. Classroom assignments will be available only after parents have logged in and completed the data confirmation. This window will open August 10 and classroom assignments will be available after August 22nd to families who have completed the data confirmation.

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT CONSORTIUM (SBAC) REPORTING OF SCORES: English and Math, Grades 3-5 and Science, Grade 5, The State of California will be providing summary reports to us sometime over the summer and Albany Unified School District will be​ mailing​ individual student reports to ​families toward the end of summer.  We will ​keep you informed as our plans are finalized.​ Albany USD will also provide opportunities in the fall for parents and community members to learn more about how to interpret SBAC scores and how to support student success.
