PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Hello Otters,

This past Wednesday, we had a Safe Routes to School assembly. Students learned how to safely cross the streets and what different traffic signs mean. Next week we will be celebrating International Walk and Roll to School Day, see below for more information!

Parents, I need your help!  We have a wonderful group of parents that have offered to participate in our School's Site Council.  The SSC is a team of staff members and parents who work with the principal to develop the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA- also informally called the “Site Plan”) and the programs and action steps that support its implementation.  In order for them to participate I need you to vote them in.  Please fill out this google form ballot to cast your vote for all 4 of these amazing parents.  Thank you!

Reminder: Tomorrow, 10/3, is our Fall Festival. I am looking forward to seeing all of our Otter families there! 🎃🍁

·       Taking a walk, or riding a bike, skateboard, or scooter

·       Biking with your child on their own or with a trail-a-bike

·       Taking the bus with your child and walking to and from the bus stop

·       Joining a Walking School Bus or a Bike Train

Coach Renee needs parents to pass out prizes and fill in our sticker chart from 8-8:30 am on October 7.  Please email her at rtheriault@ausdk12.org if you are interested in helping!

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

Clothing Donations

We are still in need of clothes for our little otter accidents. If you have clothes between the sizes of 5T and 10/11 kid size, please drop it off in the office. Pants/Shorts and Shirts only. Thank you!

Play Structures

Please note that our campus play structures are off limits for public use when the school day ends at 1:30pm for TK and Kinder students and 3:05pm for students 1st-5th.  This includes the small playground near the staff parking lot. This park is being utilized by the aftercare program. There is an Ocean View Public Park located behind the baseball field/tennis courts outside of the school campus if you are looking for a playground after dismissal.

Entrance Gates

South Front Gate (TK/Kinder): will be open from 8:00-8:30am.

Central Gate (1st-5th): will be open from 8:15-8:30am.

School starts at: 8:30am. Tardy slips start at 8:31am.

If your student comes in after this time, stop by the office for a late pass. If your student goes straight to the classroom, they will be sent down to the office.

Illnesses

If a student has been absent for 10 days due to medical/illness within the school year, we are required to ask for a doctor's note to excuse any medical/illnesses after the 10th day. Any medical/illnesses already excused by a doctor in the first 10 days of absences are not counted toward this requirement. If your student is absent due to fever, they must be 24-hour fever free before returning to school without use of fever-reducing medication. Report all absences to ovattendance@ausdk12.org

Health Forms for Kindergarten Families

Kindergartners need to have the Oral Health Form completed by their doctor/dentist and on file in the school office before the start of first grade.

Please submit electronically to ovattendance@ausdk12.org
