International Peace Pole

On September 11, Albany Unified School District came together with members of the Albany community and the Rotary Club of Albany to dedicate a new International Peace Pole.

The dedication held special meaning on a day that asks us to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, while also reflecting on our shared responsibility to build a more peaceful and compassionate world.

The Peace Pole carries the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” and serves as a visible reminder of the values we want to nurture in our schools and across our community: kindness, belonging, understanding, and care for one another.

We are grateful to the Rotary Club and everyone who helped make this dedication possible. As students, staff, families, and community members pass the Peace Pole each day, we hope it will remind us that peace is not simply something we wish for. It is something we create through how we listen, how we treat one another, and how we show up for our community.
