Ocean View strives to support a safe and secure learning environment that treats all students with dignity, respect, and high expectations

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Hello Otters,

We had a great first full week of school! All of our students seem to be settling right back into the school schedule.

We are looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday for our Back to School Night. This is a parent only event that will begin at 6:00pm in the multipurpose room. Classroom presentations will not begin until 6:15pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

I would also like to invite you to consider joining the Ocean View School Site Council. The SSC is a team of staff members and parents who work with the principal to develop the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA - also informally called the “Site Plan”) and the programs and action steps that support its implementation.

We need a minimum of 5 parent/community members to join the staff members on the council this year. Meetings are held once a month on Tuesday from 3:30-5:00pm at OV. If you are interested in participating please complete this form

PTA CORNER

Dear Ocean View Families,

As we get ready for Ocean View's Fall Festival & Walkathon on Saturday, October 3, we're

excited to start gathering the games, supplies, and prizes that will make the day fun for our

students and families.

🎯 Games, Supplies & More

This year, we're looking for a combination of donations and loans of games, festival

supplies, and other items we'll need to bring the Fall Festival to life. Several of our existing

games are worn out or in need of replacement, and we're also hoping to introduce some new

games this year. Rather than purchasing everything new, we'd love to see what our Ocean View

community can provide!

We've created a sign-up sheet with the specific items we're looking for, along with

quantities and suggested purchase options.

If you already have an item in good condition that meets one of our needs, we'd love to

put it to use! If not, the sign-up sheet includes suggested items and purchase options for those

who would like to contribute that way.

👉 View the list and sign up to donate or loan an item here.

One of the items we're looking for is wide-mouth mason jars for our Ping Pong Toss game.

Mason jars can be either loaned or donated. If you are loaning jars, please clearly label the

bottom of each jar with your name and contact information so we can make sure they get

back to you after the festival.

🎁 Give Those Goody-Bag Prizes a Second Life

We're also collecting prizes for the games. Our first priority is reusing the small, unused toys

and trinkets that often accumulate in kids' goody bags. If you have a stash of things like

bouncy balls, Pop-Its, slap bracelets, pull-back vehicles, stickers, fidgets, or other small prizes

sitting unused at home, we'd love to give them a second life at the Fall Festival.

📦 Drop-Off

All donated and loaned materials can be dropped off at the Ocean View Elementary school

office by Friday, September 18. Please make sure any loaned items are clearly labeled with

your name and contact information so we can return them to you after the festival.

Thank you for helping us create a fun Fall Festival while finding creative ways to reuse what we

already have, reduce waste, and make the most of our Ocean View community's

Resources! We appreciate your generosity and can't wait to see what we can build together.

Volunteer Roles

We'll need volunteers on Friday evening, October 2 to help set up for the festival, as well as volunteers on Saturday, October 3 for morning setup, games, activities, concessions, the walkathon, the prize booth, cleanup, and more. Most volunteer shifts are just 1–2 hours, so it's easy to find a time that fits your schedule. Whether you can help Friday evening, Saturday morning, midday, afternoon, or cleanup, we'd love to have you!

👉 Sign up to volunteer here

Interested in a Leadership Role?

We're also looking for Area Leads to help oversee one part of the festival during a single shift. Two Area Leads will be assigned to each area—one for the first half of the event and one for the second—so there's no need to commit to the entire day. Area Lead opportunities include Ticket Sales & Sign-In, Walkathon, Games, Activities, Concessions, and Prize Booth. Area Leads don't plan the event—they simply help keep their area running smoothly during their shift. The PTA and event coordinators will provide all instructions, supplies, and support. If you're interested in serving as an Area Lead, simply indicate your interest on the volunteer sign-up or contact us directly. We'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone interested in an Area Lead role as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping make Oceanview such an amazing community. We can't wait to celebrate with you on October 3!

Warmly,

The Oceanview PTA Fall Festival Committee

Any medical/illnesses already excused by a doctor in the first 10 days of absences are not counted toward this requirement.
