PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE |
Hello Otters,
This week our students enjoyed a water assembly hosted by EBMUD. We celebrated water and how we use it, protect it and live within it. Thank you to our science teacher, Ann Griffith for hosting this assembly.

We also had our first sing-a-long this week to celebrate Latino/x Heritage Month. Our students sang classic songs like “De Colores” and “Celito Lindo”. Thank you to Ms. Merlino for leading the sing-along as well as the musicians and families for joining us in the celebration.

Reminder: The parking lot on the corner of Buchanan and Jackson is for staff only. Thank you for keeping these spaces open so teachers can park and get to your students' classroom on time!

NOTES FROM THE OFFICE |
Parking
The parking lot on the corner of Buchanan and Jackson is for staff only. Thank you for keeping these spaces open so teachers can park and get to your students' classroom on time!
Play Structures
Please note that our campus play structures are off limits for public use when the school day ends at 3:05pm, this includes the small playground near the staff parking lot. This park is being utilized by the aftercare program. There is an Ocean View Public Park located behind the baseball field/tennis courts outside of the school campus.
Entrance Gates
South Front Gate (TK/Kinder): will be open from 8:00-8:30am.
Central Gate (1st-5th): will be open from 8:15-8:30am.
School starts at: 8:30am. Tardy slips start at 8:31am.
If your student comes in after this time, stop by the office for a late pass. If your student goes straight to the classroom, they will be sent down to the office. All parents/guardians must leave through the main office when gates are closed. Please do not open any gates.
Illnesses
If a student has been absent for 10 days due to medical/illness within the school year, we are required to ask for a doctor's note to excuse any medical/illnesses after the 10th day. Any medical/illnesses already excused by a doctor in the first 10 days of absences are not counted toward this requirement. If your student is absent due to fever, they must be 24-hour fever free before returning to school without use of fever-reducing medication. Report all absences to ovattendance@ausdk12.org
Health Forms for Kindergarten Families
Kindergartners need to have the Oral Health Form completed by their doctor/dentist and on file in the school office before the start of first grade.
Please submit electronically to ovattendance@ausdk12.org
