If your student is going to be absent for five (5) or more days, you may want to consider a short-term Independent Study. This is a voluntary program that helps students keep up with their school work and, when the work is returned and approved, allows them to receive a grade for their work. Students who fulfill the terms of their Independent Study are not counted absent for those days. 

 

Independent Study has a 14-day maximum and is not available for the last two weeks of the school year. Requests must be made at least 10 school days prior to the first day of absence.
