Dear Albany Community,
It has been an incredibly busy week at our schools as standardized testing finished up, Fastbridge and AP tests were taken, projects came due, and students geared up for the last four full weeks of school. Last night, the elementary school campuses were packed with families at Open House, as students showed their work to their parents and adults visited with one another. And on a sad note, many of us will spend this afternoon and early evening at the AUSD local memorial service for Superintendent Dr. Frank Wells.
Be An Ally!
We want Albany students to not just recognize and avoid bullying behaviors—we want them to know how to break up an unhealthy dynamic by being an ally. Our students need your help and support to learn the tools to know how to do this, and, frankly, a lot of us adults could use these skills, too. Please set aside some time this weekend to view these new Allyship resources with your children. Click to view an age-appropriate card with a short video, talking points, and guiding questions. AMS Trust Mural Video
AMS unveiled their new, student-created mural (pictured above) at the AMS Open House on April 25. If you missed that, or even if you were there and just want a behind-the-scenes look, please take three minutes to watch this incredible video. It shows how students determined their focus and design, how they made the mural, and how the entire process affected them. It is uplifting and will put a smile on your face. I appreciate these creative and hardworking students and the adults who helped them, including teacher Natacha Luci, and volunteers Sweta Chawla and Kirsten Piroth.
Heritage Months
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, please see these Resolutions that were passed by the Board of Education. Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson will be honoring Albany High School’s AAPI Youth Rising group at the Alameda County Board of Supervisors meeting next Tuesday, May 14 for their excellent work bringing attention to Asian Americans’ contributions to our country.
Albany High Art Show
All are welcome to the public viewing of the Albany High School (AHS) Art Show on May 16 from 4–7pm. Artwork from all art classes will be featured and will be displayed on the first floors of both the main building and art building at the AHS campus.

Querida comunidad de Albany,
Ha sido una semana increíblemente ocupada en nuestras escuelas, ya que terminaron los exámenes estandarizados, se tomaron los exámenes Fastbridge y AP, se entregaron los proyectos y los estudiantes se prepararon para las últimas cuatro semanas completas de clases.
