Dear Albany Community,
Please join me in celebrating the success of the Albany High School (AHS) Cross Country team! Albany's Cross Country Boys Team won the Division 4 State Championship in the California Interscholastic Federation’s 5-kilometer race. Led by junior Sean Morello (3rd place overall in 15:09.9), the Cougars made an excellent team. Also having great races were Lucas Cohen (13th), Jack Elfenbaum, Kristiyan Klichev, Ben Elfenbaum, Sam Givner, and Jared Nakahara. This year was the first year an Albany cross country team has ever made State, let alone won State!
In a remarkable achievement, senior Sophia Nordenholz won the state championship in the individual girl’s division. This exceptional athlete led wire to wire to beat all her competitors. Her time of 16:46 was the fastest time on the day out of over 900 female competitors, and the fourth fastest time in state records!
AUSD’s Vaccination Mandate
Please remember that AUSD has a vaccination mandate for students that will activate on January 3, 2022 for those 12 and older, and January 26, 2022 for those ages 5 to 11. This means that unless AUSD has received acceptable documentation that your student has been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (or is medically exempt) by those January deadlines, then your student will be tested weekly at school with a COVID-19 PCR test. If AUSD does not have your consent for testing, then your student will be moved to long-term Independent Study until vaccination documentation or testing consent is obtained, or until the end of the school year.
Submitting Documentation
Parents and guardians of students ages 5 to 11 will receive an email next week with the subject line: "IMPORTANT: Student Vaccination Status" linking to a form from our trusted partner, InformedK12. Submitting the individualized form will update your student’s confidential immunization record. Noting that your student will not be vaccinated (perhaps for medical reasons) is an optional response, and AUSD needs to receive that information.
Where to Get Vaccinated
Healthcare providers, including Kaiser, Sutter Health, and Stanford Health Care, are scheduling appointments for children ages 5–11 now. MyTurn California and this page specific to Alameda County are both excellent resources for finding vaccine appointments.
AUSD Website Update
Over Winter Break (December 20–31) the AUSD home page, www.ausdk12.org, will get an upgrade. You can expect more easily accessible menus, a direct link to the livestream of Board of Education meetings, and better performance on mobile devices.

Mandato de vacunación de AUSD

AUSD 的疫苗接种要求
