SPEAK UP BE SAFE PARENT ED NIGHT FOR AUSD ELEMENTARY PARENTS MONDAY, JANUARY 9TH FROM 6:30PM TO 7:30PM IN THE OCEAN VIEW LIBRARY: AUSD implements the Speak Up Be Safe curriculum created by the Childhelp organization. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is a research-based, comprehensive child abuse and bullying prevention education curriculum equipping students nationwide with skills they need to play a significant role in the prevention or interruption of abuse and bullying. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe covers topics such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, bullying and cyber bullying all at an age-appropriate level. In the coming weeks, all AUSD elementary students in grades 1-5 will be receiving their grade level’s Speak Up Be Safe two-part lesson series. For more information on the curriculum and its implementation, please join us at the Parent Education night. Alternatively, more information can be obtained at SPEAK UP BE SAFE. We encourage all parents to attend this informative evening if you have questions about the program. I know many of you attended last year and were able to learn about the curriculum and get answers to questions. Additionally, like last year, we will have binders of the materials in the office for preview for anyone interested.
