KIDPOWER PARENT WORKSHOP—THURSDAY 2/6 (7PM – 9PM)—OV MULTIPURPOSE RM:
Please join us for a spectacular Parent Education Night hosted by Ocean View Elementary and open to all. This is an adults-only event (childcare available) RSVP Gabrielle 925-457-4337 or [email protected] Workshop Description: The Kidpower Parent Workshop is designed to help adults help young people develop skills for being safe with people, including strangers, peers, and others they know. Each session is different, because every group is unique, and every workshop is tailored to the ages and life situations of the participants' children. Participants learn ways to help their children learn People Safety skills in a way that is age-appropriate and effective without being scary and that is adaptable as children grow, take on more independence, and experience new situations. Adults will learn how to help kids:
■Be and act aware and confident
■Check with adults if anything seems unsafe
■Move away from possible problems
■Follow Stranger Safety rules
■Stay safe from hurtful words
■Use voice as a safety tool
■Set clear boundaries
■Say "No" or "Stop" clearly and respectfully
■Deal with other kids poking, pushing, grabbing, etc.
■Use safety plans if lost in a store, park, or library
■Get help from busy adults - and persist!
