OCEAN VIEW PTA SOCK HOP

JANUARY 24TH,OCEAN VIEW PTA SOCK HOP— (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM): Ocean View PTA's annual Sock Hop is coming up on January 24th from 6:30 pm to 8pm. Don’t know what a Sock Hop is? Sock Hops are informal high school dances that were popular in the 1950's, where kids would take off their shoes and dance in their socks so as not to mark up the gymnasium floors. Here at Ocean View, we put our own twist on this all-American tradition and have a Crazy Sock Contest and a Cake Walk in the Multi-Purpose Room. Kids are encouraged to wear fun socks (they can decorate them if they want) and prizes will be given out for the craziest ones. We'll also have a cake walk where kids walk around stepping on numbered squares to music. When the music stops everyone stops, a number is called out and the person standing on that number wins a baked good. We need volunteers to make this fun and popular event a success, as well as donations of baked goods (cakes, cookies, cupcakes, bars, etc. -- no nuts please!) for the Cake Walk.
